1. The Brief

The brief was given to create a lighting solution in line with the new office for AlixPartners Ltd where they wanted renovate their new office space over 4 floors with new lights, floors, walls and furniture with a total budget of £1.5 million for the complete fit out. Working with Opus-4, our challenge was to implement new lighting to create a better feel and appearance for the client without radically changing the aesthetics of the interiors.

The landlord was very specific about these requirements to maintain consistency in the appearance across the group of 7 buildings they own.

2. The Implementation

The implementation of the project was successful in tailoring the products to fit in line with the original aesthetics. In order to fulfill the brief, we were given an origi- nal fitting to create custom fitted lights that were easy to install, maintaining the aesthetics while creating a new appearance for the client.

UR-EKA provided a retrofit, custom made Linear recessed luminaire, recessed downlights as well as light engines and drivers which were imple- mented in 2 phases, over the course of several weeks. By tailoring the fittings with our innovative clip on feature it also meant an ease of installation for the contractor, Opus 4.

3. The Completion

The project was successfully completed in June 2016. As well as adhering to the brief, the project has also enabled a huge reduction in cost and energy consumption. Our fittings are highly efficient at 112lm/W which has made an annual saving of £29,554.73. Energy consumption has also more than halved, allowing huge energy savings and a reduction in maintenance costs.

Projected Costs & Savings

As well as successfully adhering to the brief, there were tremendous savings from the new lighting. From our savings calculations, the replacement of 655 traditional T5 Fitting at 21W has been reduced to 12.5W meaning an annual saving of over £7,000. Additionally, the other replacement luminaires are more than half the wattage of the existing fittings meaning huge reduction of energy and carbon emissions as well as savings on cost, which is calculated to be £29,554.73 anually.
